Why Data?
Mobile phones are loaded with sensors. Storage is infinite. Computational power is available in the cloud. We are transiting into a new era, with infinite possibilities to capture, save and make sense out of massive amounts of data. Signs of the impact of this change can already be seen in the way science, business, and technology is moving forward. How do we adapt to this new reality, where data is a commodity?
What to expect
We are awaiting a few more confirmations at this moment. Once we have the line-up complete, the speakers will be communicated via Meetup and our personal tweets (check below). For now, you can expect the following subjects: data visualization, how to use data & ethical questions at play.
How to RSVP
Mobile Monday Amsterdam is a free to attend event organized by a couple of friends. We love to welcome you, but due to a limited capacity you will have to RSVP. RSVPs are available in two batches. The first batch of 350 RSVPs will be available on Monday, October 25th – 12:00 sharp. Change your status in “YES” to RSVP on Meetup, once the RSVPs are available. Previous events sold out within minutes, so make sure to get your seat while they last.
Some hints on how not to miss the RSVP release: set an alarm on your mobile, or subscribe for the RSVP-reminder by SMS (check it out here).
RSVPs sold out? Check this!
Bad luck in the first round? No worries: we release the RSVPs in two batches. The final batch of seats is released on Monday, November 1st (12:00).
Data? I don’t get it!
Data is a broad and abstract subject. Prepare yourself with these stories/sources:
– The end of Theory by Chris Anderson
– Journalism in the Age of Data
– Occasional tweets from @mobilemonday
Now, mark the date for the RSVP, and see you on Monday, November 8th!
